Events
HPA holds multiple different events throughout each semester. The events are mostly school-funded and provide an opportunity for students to learn about the field of mechanical engineering and its application in the real world. In addition to our weekly car meets on campus, our events include dyno days, drag days, and other educational events during both the fall and spring semesters.
Upcoming Events
We are currently working on the events for this semester so please check back at a later date to find out more.
Bi-Weekly Car Meets

We hold our Bi-Weekly Car Meets on the first, third, and fifth Fridays of every month. This is a time for our members to hang out, talk about virtually anything, and just have a good time. The meets are held on the UNCC campus in Lot 6 and start around 7:00 PM. Click here for a map of the campus with our location marked. We are usually out there for an hour or two on the colder winter nights, but sometimes up to four or five hours on the warmer spring and fall nights. We would then go out to eat as a group at a nearby restaurant. From there, it's just a personal preference as to what people do. Some go back to campus to hang out some more, whereas others just head their own ways. But you can always expect us out there from 7 to 8. We are currently planning to stay out later, and we are encouraging people to eat before coming to the meets. This would allow more time to hang out without the group breaking up early.
Dyno Days

Once a semester, we will attempt to hold a dyno day - given the right amount of member interest and approval from the school - to see what our vehicles are made of. The word dyno is short for dynamometer, a device used to measure the amount of horsepower and torque at the wheels of a vehicle - a concept that we learn about in many mechanical engineering classes. This is always a fun event and is great for anyone who just finished modifying their vehicle over the summer or winter break.
Track Days

Another event which we attempt to hold once a semester is a track day. This is a day we set aside to head over to the local drag strip and see how quickly we can get our cars to the 1/8-mile or 1/4-mile mark. It's a great way for anyone to dial in their vehicle with less wait than on Test 'N Tune nights. It is also a great way to test our theories of physics and theories from mechanical engineering classes. HPA has the entire drag strip rented out for the hours of the event, which may or may not be closed to guests.

Monthly Activities
Click here to visit our Monthly Activity information page.
On the second Friday of each month, we will hold our monthly activity. This is a way to diversify our meets together. It can consist of shoot pool in the Union, watching a movie in the Union, going to a local bowling alley for a few hours, etc. Each month is something different. We will always meet at 7:00 PM in Lot 6, our usual Friday night location, or in East Deck 3 during bad weather. At about 8:00 PM, we will leave the parking lot and head to our destination, whether it be the Student Union or someplace off campus.
